Fast Booting by selecting HDD as First Boot Device

Booting device selection is common task for any BIOS software, where it must decide which device is used for first booting and if not available then it will search for another device. This device searching takes time and slow startup for system. But if you select booting option properly in settings you can get rid of such searching and minimize operating system loading time. Depending on motherboard of system there are many options for booting operating system from device. These options are define in BIOS setting. Most common booting options (regardless software of BIOS) are like:- - From Floppy Disk (too much Old), For DOS OS - From ZIP Drive also obsolete like Floppy Disk - From CD/DVD - From Pen Drive/Portable HDD with USB support - From Tape  - From LAN - From local HDD Most of the case, we use local HDD for booting where OS (windows/Linux) is/are installed. But BIOS Default Setup for most of manufacturer, HDD is not first boot device. First boot device is set to ...

This message confirms that you are using a IP which is already exist in network and same address is not permitted in any network because IP is unique inside any private network or global network (public network which we called real IP). Below I state reasons behind this conflict and resolution for this specific problem. Reason for this error message: 1. Your configured IP address is used by another system of your existing network, which is currently running and power on. 2. May be you use LAN and a DHCP server at the same computer and your static LAN IP address block same with DHCP IP address block. 3. Multiple Network card installed in your computer and IP addresses of network adapter is same configured. IP Address conflict problem Solution: 1. If you know the network address block, subnet m...

But it is one of most important factor in all operating system because when all software need system date and time for any update whether it is server end or end user end. Here we are talking about the importance of system date and time and procedure to restrict user from changing system date and time from front end or user end. So we need to keep it intact without any unnecessary changes. If any user except can have the right to change date and time from user end, then it will fall us in deep trouble specially when we run software which take entry time input from end user end. There are also many software mechanisms which does not allow date and time difference to start up.  For above reason we do not give user access to change date and time from user end. We can limit the user from this feature. Here I show steps how we can control user access in windows operating systems. Steps to follow:- 1. Go to "Start menu" an...

Delete or clean unused or temporary files in Windows XP/7

Temporary files are created in system hard drive temporarily during installation of software or run time of program or installation of program or browsing of websites. Some temporary files are deleted automatically after installation or execution of program but some files are still in the hard drive. These files occupy space in hard drive and spaces are increased with number of files. So when there are many temp files in hard drive it creates problem and available disk space is drastically reduce. There are two types of temporary files one is related to windows and another is related to user. So there are two specific location for temp file in system, one is located under Windows folder another is under documents->user->local settings. Besides those, it may created in different location depends on program which creates it. From this study, we observe most of temp files are created in the drive where operating system installed and it reduce the system drive space which may ha...

Disable or Enable Auto run for removable devices (Pendirve, DVD,etc)

Autorun or Auto play option enables executable files in removable media automatically execute without any prior permission from user. For an example, when we insert Windows installation CD into our CD or DVD ROM or writer it will start execution automatically and show a menu window for easy navigation of installation. Auto run has some drawback like if our CD or DVD or Pendrive contains any virus related exe file, then it execute automatically and affect our system after insert the removable media without any prompt. This can destroy our system in a second. So auto run is risky in this perspective. H ere also another issue, if exe files inside the media are somehow corrupted or wrongly coded then it just hangs our system after a period of time and we do not have any option except restart the system. So, disable auto run may be a clever task for system performance with removable media. And after insert the media, first we have to check for virus, then expand it by explore or ...

Turn on windows firewall for enhance comoputer security

Windows operating system has built-in tools to protect instruction, traffic control and computer access. Firewall is one of windows tools to protect computer or workstation from outsider traffic, outsider attack and instruction control. It works as gateway between systems. If one system wants to communicate with others via public or private network, then first concern is security of both systems over the network. For this checking purpose windows implement firewall between two or more network. It acts as intermediate wall between them and first check the reliability of the incoming network. If the incoming systems network is allow on receiving network then firewall intend to establish a connection between them. But afterward it looking for any incoming thread or alters for the system. If it find no alter or intrusion then it make a secure connection and start transferring data. In this context, we can say firewall is works as net or mesh to refine internal security and ensur...

Windows Loading Slower; make start up faster step by step

There are many reasons for slowing windows OS start-up. Here I discuss about some important reasons and give solution how to overcome those hurdle. Windows need many back hands operating in time of loading. It needs to load all related drivers for hardware. So if is there any faulty driver in side windows-> drivers your operating will not load. Then it needs to start-up number of services for software from backhand which delays the start-up process. We will work with services to faster our loading time.  First, we have to decide which programs need to start on windows start-up and which are not. Then we will stop the execution of those programs on loading which will reduce the loading time for start-up process. Here I explain the step by step procedure for faster start-up and how to disable start-up programs in time of loading operating system. Step 1: If you are XP user, then you should go to Start button-> then Run menu, now type msconfig in the box and p...

Step by Step process to increase your PC's Virtual Memory in Windows OS

In windows operating system virtual memory refers to that memory space in hard drive which is allocated for share memory when system runs out of physical memory reside in RAM.  Virtual memory is very much useful for swap memory space when Random Access memory is not sufficient to execute any specific request then it transfer unused process to virtual memory and allocate space for currently requested process. So it works as RAM and increases memory size virtually. In windows virtual memory is basically a file which is called paged file. It is a logical extension of random access memory in hard drive because RAM memory is expensive than hard drive memory and system has limitation of using maximum RAM size. So, it is important to know where virtual memory is formed in hard drive and how much memory it occupies to create page file. Below you will find the clean picture and steps to manage and create virtual memory:- 1. First right click on My Computer icon in the d...

Steps to Track user logon in Windows XP/ Windows Server 2003

Tracking user is related to store information about user login, logout and other activity after login to the system. Track user login is not a feature of windows OS. So if we want to store logon information about all users, we have to write a command line script or program. This script stores user data in a secure file which has no modification access to all users except administrator. Tracking is useful when we need some secret information about login and logout time or if we need to count time of user connectivity with the computer. Here we store user computer name, user name, login date, time and IP address, which is sufficient for user tracking. Step 1: Create the following two files using Notepad or any text editor: LOGON: Open Text editor and write: IPCONFIG |FIND "IP" > %temp%\filename.txt  //file in temp folder for temporary use only FOR /F "tokens=2 delims=:" %%a in (%temp%\filename.txt) do set IP=%%a del %temp%\filename.txt //delete temporary filen...
