Windows registry is related with all hardware, software and peripheral of system under Windows operating system. It stores software, hardware, user and all security information of local machine, current user and current configuration. It also preserves all software information related to serial, key, installation and configuration. Sometime, after uninstall a program it store many information in registry and reinstall a fresh copy may interrupted due to previous stored information.
In this specific case we need to edit windows registry. But as it is highly sensitive and important, so we have to take backups before any operation in registry. If any inconsistency arises after editing registry we can restore your backup easily.
Backup Registry:
Direct backup of windows registry is not allow in time running OS, alternatively you can take backup of you windows registry by export files-
1. Click on Start button, then click on Run menu.
2. Now type regedit in the run box, and then click on OK button.
3. A new window will open; in Left Pane click the root (without Expand any level) My Computer that contains all subkeys and values for keys which you want to backup for recovery.
4. Now click on the File menu, and then click on Export.
5. A new window will open named “Export Registry file” here you need to locate location and file name where file will be saved and used for future restore.

Restore Registry:
1. Restore registry is almost same as export files which we describe above, difference start from number 4(four). So first follow 1 to 4 of above steps.
2. Click on the File menu from top left, and then click on Import.
5. A new window will open named “Import Registry file”; now locate the registry backup file (.reg extension) which you was backed up previously.
