Settings to allow or hide Facebook post on Timeline

In Facebook timeline new feature supports allow or hide your post on timeline. This feature is very useful when you need privacy for your posting. By this feature you can decide which timeline posts are visible in your timeline and which are hidden.

This situation arises after few days of your posting when you think that you previous writings must not show in your profile. Then you need to hide it from others.

There is another option which is delete post. If you delete a post it will permanently removed, but it may required later. Then you can not retrieve it. But if you hide it, then you can retrieve it very easily whenever necessary.

Here I describe steps to show or hide posting in timeline:-

1. Login in to your Facebook profile.
2. Click on Activity Log button (Activity Log Button is Right bottom side of your cover image).
3. A new window will open, now Select "All/Your Post/Others Post" from drop-down (Right upper side of the page).
4. You will see all Activity in descending order of time (Recent to oldest). Now Select your desire activity or post and Click on Circle (Top right corner of your activity).
5. Now Select Allowed on Timeline from drop-down.

Similarly, if you want to hide activity from timeline, you select "Hide from Timeline" in step no 5.

Note: If others will comments on your timeline, then you will find only delete option there and you can not find allow or hide option in drop down.

  2. Since converting to Timeline a lot of my activity only shows up in Activity Log, eventhough I’d like it to be visible in my Timeline – such as comments, liking other peoples comments, pictures etc. In Activity Log the menus you mention aren’t there. Some Posts have only the grey ring – which is set to “Allowed on Timeline” – and the only dropdown-option is “Delete post” – but they still don’t show up there. Other posts have the Globe or the gear as well, but theres no dropdown-options at all. Any other with this problem and any ideas to what is wrong? I’ve already notified Facebook of the problem some days ago.

  3. @Jakob,In most case when you click on Activity log all will appear, Then you customized from drop-down (Your posts, Posts by others, comments...etc) if you select your post then full menu appear, but if you select posts by other there only delete option cause this was posted by others. And for comments only delete comments...so if your problem is not like above send a screenshot for me..to realize actual problem.

  4. @Mohammad: Thanks for trying to help - but full menues don't appear eventhough it's my own posts, I'm selecting (such posts as if I've liked a photo uploaded by others or commented on a status update by others). Very frustrating. Any other ideas?

  6. @Jakob, Did you ever find out how to solve your problem? I have the exact same problem. Comments and posts I have made on friends' timelines do not appear on my own timeline. When I go to my Activity log, I can see my comments but the only icon I have is the circle for Allowed Timeline and when I click on it, the only option is to delete.

  7. Comments I post and pictures I like- It shows as viewable to public but when I click the little ring, it does NOT give me the option to hide or remove from timeline/activity log. However I do not believe this is a flaw, I believe this is the way facebook meant the implemented change to be, and I believe we should have the option, we should have better control, we should be able to choose if pictures we liked are shown for all to see or not.

Facebook timeline recent activity and post disappeared

Facebook Timeline gives our profile a new graphical look. It also launches many new features. Activity log is one of them where we will find all of our recent activities on profile, example: Any “Like” on own or others post, comments, status update, add new photos, invites someone to add group, add albums, send friend request etc. But sometimes we face problem with disappear recent activity from Facebook timeline or wall post from profile. This problem is one of the common problems in new feature. It may happen in two stage of your account.  - When your account transfer from old wall view to Timeline or New profile in Timeline. - Another stage is for existing Timeline account, where recent activity disappears without any specific reason. The first case we can handle very easily. It basically happen due to transfer and the solution depends on visibility of your post or activity like (Public, Friends and Custom). Now set your visibility settings from privacy setting or directly fro

Brief and Examples on Simplex, Half-Duplex, Full-Duplex Transmission

In data communication, there are three types of communication styles; they are Simplex, Half-Duplex and Full-Duplex. Here we discuss about their characteristics with examples. Simplex: In this communication style data can send only and basically it is one way or uni-direction communication. This type of communication is not widely used for transmit trusted data because it can not send any error or control signal to sender terminal. This style of communication is vastly used in Radio and TV where we can see and hear or receive data only but we can not send any information data by the same channel. Half-Duplex: Half-Duplex is another type of communication style where data can and send and receive but not at the same time. In this communication type, if data is send from one end, then we can not send data from another that means communication establish in one direction.  This communication vastly used in walkie-talkie, intercom, string phone etc. The practical exam

Limit user from changing system time and date in Windows OS

Most of us do not concern with system date and time. But it is one of most important factor in all operating system because when all software need system date and time for any update whether it is server end or end user end. Here we are talking about the importance of system date and time and procedure to restrict user from changing system date and time from front end or user end. So we need to keep it intact without any unnecessary changes. If any user except can have the right to change date and time from user end, then it will fall us in deep trouble specially when we run software which take entry time input from end user end. There are also many software mechanisms which does not allow date and time difference to start up.  For above reason we do not give user access to change date and time from user end. We can limit the user from this feature. Here I show steps how we can control user access in windows operating systems. Steps to follow:- 1. Go to "Start menu" an
