Disable or Enable Auto run for removable devices (Pendirve, DVD,etc)

Autorun or Auto play option enables executable files in removable media automatically execute without any prior permission from user. For an example, when we insert Windows installation CD into our CD or DVD ROM or writer it will start execution automatically and show a menu window for easy navigation of installation. Auto run has some drawback like if our CD or DVD or Pendrive contains any virus related exe file, then it execute automatically and affect our system after insert the removable media without any prompt. This can destroy our system in a second. So auto run is risky in this perspective. H ere also another issue, if exe files inside the media are somehow corrupted or wrongly coded then it just hangs our system after a period of time and we do not have any option except restart the system. So, disable auto run may be a clever task for system performance with removable media. And after insert the media, first we have to check for virus, then expand it by explore or

Enable or Disable USB storage devices or USB ports in Windows OS

USB (Universal System Bus) port becomes popular for it’s high data transfer rate than traditional serial and parallel port. Most of the external devices are connected with system by USB port like Pen drive, portable hard drive, printer, mouse, keyboard etc. But in some cases we need to disable USB port due to system security and virus thread from pen drive or portable media. There is several ways to disable and enable USB port in system; here I explain three easy and useful way to disable or enable  USB or USB storage in windows OS. Option 1: Enable or Disable USB ports or USB storage from Windows Registry:- •   Go to START menu ->click on RUN->Type regedit • Registry Editor Window will appear. Now Backup your current registry configuration from http://latestitsupport.blogspot.com/2012/01/how-to-backup-and-restore-windows.html • Now in Left Pane expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\USBSTOR •    In right pane double click on start (DWORD) change the val

Turn on windows firewall for enhance comoputer security

Windows operating system has built-in tools to protect instruction, traffic control and computer access. Firewall is one of windows tools to protect computer or workstation from outsider traffic, outsider attack and instruction control. It works as gateway between systems. If one system wants to communicate with others via public or private network, then first concern is security of both systems over the network. For this checking purpose windows implement firewall between two or more network. It acts as intermediate wall between them and first check the reliability of the incoming network. If the incoming systems network is allow on receiving network then firewall intend to establish a connection between them. But afterward it looking for any incoming thread or alters for the system. If it find no alter or intrusion then it make a secure connection and start transferring data. In this context, we can say firewall is works as net or mesh to refine internal security and ensur

Windows Loading Slower; make start up faster step by step

There are many reasons for slowing windows OS start-up. Here I discuss about some important reasons and give solution how to overcome those hurdle. Windows need many back hands operating in time of loading. It needs to load all related drivers for hardware. So if is there any faulty driver in side windows-> drivers your operating will not load. Then it needs to start-up number of services for software from backhand which delays the start-up process. We will work with services to faster our loading time.  First, we have to decide which programs need to start on windows start-up and which are not. Then we will stop the execution of those programs on loading which will reduce the loading time for start-up process. Here I explain the step by step procedure for faster start-up and how to disable start-up programs in time of loading operating system. Step 1: If you are XP user, then you should go to Start button-> then Run menu, now type msconfig in the box and press

Clear recently accessed documents history Step by Step

Recently access document is useful to find out which documents are recently opened. This list is in sorted order and one can easily find out last access document. But there is a problem when you are accessing a public or shared computer or laptop because next people who login the system can easily retrieve you recently access document list which may harmful for you. But if you delete the list from system then no one can get information about your accessed documents without vast expertise on system. So, it is security concern for PC users who need to keep information secret and do not allow others to get information about his/her recent work on the system. Here I demonstrate how to delete your recently accessed account information to refrain from others. You can see your recent access documents by Click Star Menu->Documents Recent Accessed Documents Step by Step process:- Step 1: Right Click on Start menu or task bar-> click on Properties then Taskbar and Start Menu P

Disk Cleanup, a powerful utility in Windows OS to free Disk space

Windows operating system has number of way and tools to free disk space and faster disk and system performance. Disk cleanup is one of them. Disk cleanup is a combined package of different tools. It is one of most effective tools where you will find all cleanup process under one umbrella. It will tell you how much space it can free for you by using your selected process from all shown processes. In disk cleanup you can also free space by using uninstall windows components, unused programs and delete old restore point data. As I mentioned earlier it is actually total package for free disk space and faster disk performance as well as system performances. Here I describe step by step procedure how you can free your disk space by using Disk cleanup utility:- Step 1: Go to My Computer, Right click on Dive Letter then go to Properties. Here you see Disk Cleanup button. Disk Cleanup Step 2: Here you check all option like Download Program files, Temporary Internet Files, Tem

Step by Step process to increase your PC's Virtual Memory in Windows OS

In windows operating system virtual memory refers to that memory space in hard drive which is allocated for share memory when system runs out of physical memory reside in RAM.  Virtual memory is very much useful for swap memory space when Random Access memory is not sufficient to execute any specific request then it transfer unused process to virtual memory and allocate space for currently requested process. So it works as RAM and increases memory size virtually. In windows virtual memory is basically a file which is called paged file. It is a logical extension of random access memory in hard drive because RAM memory is expensive than hard drive memory and system has limitation of using maximum RAM size. So, it is important to know where virtual memory is formed in hard drive and how much memory it occupies to create page file. Below you will find the clean picture and steps to manage and create virtual memory:- 1. First right click on My Computer icon in the deskt

Steps to Track user logon in Windows XP/ Windows Server 2003

Tracking user is related to store information about user login, logout and other activity after login to the system. Track user login is not a feature of windows OS. So if we want to store logon information about all users, we have to write a command line script or program. This script stores user data in a secure file which has no modification access to all users except administrator. Tracking is useful when we need some secret information about login and logout time or if we need to count time of user connectivity with the computer. Here we store user computer name, user name, login date, time and IP address, which is sufficient for user tracking. Step 1: Create the following two files using Notepad or any text editor: LOGON: Open Text editor and write: IPCONFIG |FIND "IP" > %temp%\filename.txt  //file in temp folder for temporary use only FOR /F "tokens=2 delims=:" %%a in (%temp%\filename.txt) do set IP=%%a del %temp%\filename.txt //delete temporary filen

Solution of USB Keyboard or Optical Mouse problem

USB keyboard and optical mouse problem is common for any computer user. This problem arises due to non brand product or tainted product or faulty system board. In case of this problem, we can easily check which devices or port is faulty by following steps described below:- 1. Restart the PC for reboot. 2. Enter BIOS setting by pressing “DEL” or “F2” as per your motherboard vendor instruction, check BIOS mouse and keyboard setup, If you found USB keyboard and Mouse support is disable, then Enable it first. 3. Now check your USB optical Mouse laser to ensure power is passing through Mouse cable and it is OK. Afterward check the condition of light, does it emit light? If, there is no light emit, then your Mouse is Faulty. 4. Check Keyboard Power by pressing Caps Lock/Num Lock. If LED related to those button are Green or Amber (depend on vendor settings), then we can confirm that our keyboard have no power problem. 5. After checking above steps, you must restart your P

Computer beeps after turn on computer, RAM or AGP problem

Computer beeping problem is not an ordinary problem. This problem indicates something is wrong with system hardware. It may happen for two specific reasons. First one, if any of your RAM or AGP or PCI slot is loosely connected with your devices. Second reason occurs if your hardware is not working or becomes faulty. So, when you hear beep sound from your PC after push the switch on button and you won’t see any display. No need to worry because here I will give you solution in this specific problem which may relief you. On basis of beep length and number, you can easily detect which device is faulty: - If one Beep or short beep (length) produces then problem is in your AGP card or any PCI devices connect with motherboard. - If more than one Beep or long beep generates then problem is in Random Access Memory (RAM). - If continuously beeping, then problem is in processor. Solutions: - Power off your computer first then remove the AGP card, clean it by duster to make sure dust

If your hardware is updated and AHCI driver is installed then you can “Enable” it to get better performance. So ensure proper settings for your system because it is one of the major reasons for blue screen aft

Disable the Automatic Restart on System Failure in Windows XP

Windows operating system has by default system error recovery mechanism. If any critical error occurs in system due to hardware or software fault, then windows try to recover system from this stage. If fail to recover, then system will automatically restarts and creates a logfile for this error. After restart system will show a message regarding critical system recovery with error code for further assistance from vendor site and location of logfile. You can view the logfile from there. But, if you do not want to restart your system for this reason and continue your current job, then you have to stop system feature manually because windows recommended system configuration enable automatic restart after any serious error and by default it required due to unstable state of system during the occurrence. After reading above statements, still if you want to stop restart, you have to follow below steps:- Steps:- 1. First go to Control Panel by clicking on windows Start button->then cl

Solution: The power supply board inside your LCD monitor has 4 to 7 bad capacitors depends on Monitor Brand. In most cases, you will find faulty capacitors on your power supply (i

Dynamic IP address generation with DHCP Server for a large network

DHCP (Dynamic Host control protocol) is network protocol refers to controlling host or work station network dynamically and organize network devices in order to establish communication easily with each other. It works at application layer of OSI network model. It is basically expansion of BOOTP protocol. DHCP has two types of user, one is client and another is server. DHCP clients obtain network information from (like IP address, routing information) server and configure itself by using those information. After successful configure, clients can establish connection with each other. DHCP server allocate IP address to it’s clients for limited time because if it assign IP address for undefined time then it will act like static address. Basically it lease IP for it’s clients and before expiration of time clients must renew the address or release address if it does not needed by host. Here client actually send an IP lease request to server and server received the request, aft
