Display nothing or black monitor after few seconds of power on is common problem with CRT or LCD or LED connected with your computer. In this case no message or nothing shows in monitor so we can not know what the actual problem is. But after reading the post carefully we can easily understand causes of dark monitor after power on.
There are some specific reasons for that problem. Most of the cases, problem arises due to:-
- AGP card problem
- Graphics diver problem
- Monitor cable problem
- Problematic power board inside monitor
- Unsupported resolution problem
Now I give you tips how to check what is happen for your monitor:-
1. First check monitor light is blinking or not after power up into monitor. If no light blinking or stable then problem is with your monitor power board.
Solution:
The power supply board inside your LCD monitor has 4 to 7 bad capacitors depends on Monitor Brand. In most cases, you will find faulty capacitors on your power supply (invertor) board. Change those faulty capacitors from a expert technician. Do not go for a novice because it will totally defect your main board.
2. If power light is on and stable, but no display then check your monitor cable.
Solution:
To check cable, you have to disconnect it from monitor and if you see a message in monitor Like “Check Cable” or “Input VGA /AGP cable” then your cable is OK.
3. Still problem exist check your VGA /AGP card and graphics driver.
Solution:
To check AGP /VGA, we have many options but here we use another working monitor. Now connect the monitor cable with another monitor and see the result. If cable works and display with new monitor then AGP/VGA is working and good condition, also no problem exists in graphics driver. If doesn’t work, then unplug cable and remove dust from your AGP/VGA card (If you do not use built-in AGP), place it tightly in right slot. Now check again. If no solution found then problem is in your AGP card.
4. At last we suspect unsupported resolution for monitor.
Solution:
Just reset the BIOS setting to default. You can achieve the default setting by reset CMOS jumper or discharge motherboard battery. After reset I think your problem should be solved. If not then contact with your monitor vendor for warranty or replace.
